How to Spend Like a Frugal Millionaire

I got this article in Yahoo! site, I got interested with this :D cause, i feel becoming one someday. And i know with this guide, i could create. ♥

"How to Spend Like a Frugal Millionaire"

Today's guest post comes from Jeff Lehman, author of The Frugal Millionaires.

Saving thousands while still spending.

Millionaires make up just 2 percent of the population. They get a bad rap during recessions for being wasteful with their money and are frequently used as examples of excess. It's the millionaires that you don't see that you can learn from in times like these. I call them the frugal millionaires and interviewed 70 of them to uncover ways we can all be smarter with money.

Nearly 70 percent of the economy is based on consumer spending. To keep the economy going we need to keep spending but not waste money in the process. This is where the frugal millionaires come in. They've been smart with their money all along and haven't lost it all and had to remake it. These are the kind of people you want to learn from when it comes to spending your money.

Spending philosophy.

Frugal millionaires are unique thinkers when it comes to spending money: 1) they can easily delay their need for gratification when purchasing; 2) they are resourceful in getting what they want by carefully timing their consumer purchases; 3) they make living below their means painless; 4) they don't like wasting anything (especially money); 5) their sense of "self-entitlement" is highly minimized: and 6) spending is OK with them...depending on what they are buying (think: appreciating vs. depreciating assets).

Buying tips.

These millionaires keep more money than they spend, that's why they are rich. Their tactics work for them so they'll work even better for you. Key Point: They don't view shopping as a sport. They shop efficiently and spend their time doing more important things with their lives. Here are their tips that will help you save while spending:

Cars: Buy used (or off lease) fuel-efficient cars, often with "certified pre-owned" warranties. This warranty can be better than a new car, plus the initial depreciation hit is avoided. Drive the car for a long time and never lease it.

Eating Out: Bring half of a meal home to eat later (this also saves the waistline). Eat at happy hours. Bring wine from home and skip dessert. Value food quality over expensive ambience.

Eating In: Eat better and less expensively by cooking at home. Make it a friends and family event. Get your kids involved. Bonus: You can have that extra drink without worrying about getting busted for driving under the influence. Also: buy day-old bread at the best bakery in town and freeze it. Eat oatmeal, because it's the most cost-effective breakfast food. Get a supermarket "club card" and buy food on special. Play the game of trying to see how much of a discount can be saved off the total food bill.

Clothes: When you buy something new donate something used to charity. Buy traditional clothes, but wait for the off-season to acquire them. Go for high quality - not high price. Buy vintage clothing and avoid logo clothing and keep people guessing who the designer might be. Hint: There shouldn't be one!

[For more, read: "Juggling Your Money in the Recession."]

Consumer Electronics: Buy low-end gear that has the basic functionality of the more expensive stuff. Don't be the first to buy new technology. Wait at least one lifecycle so the bugs are worked out. Buy refurbished electronics whenever possible.

Computers: Buy more mainstream computers with proven technology. Select higher capacity hard drives, a decent amount of RAM (the memory that the program runs in) and a cost effective processor. Super fast doesn't always equal super good...unless you are building airplanes or bridges. Laptops are a good compromise between desktops and netbooks. Don't go through the pain of upgrading operating systems on existing computers, it's not time efficient and you will probably go insane trying.

Going green: Being green and frugal go hand-in-hand. Yet frugal millionaires don't readily fall for the trendy green hype machine. They typically buy green if it helps the environment and lowers their costs. They look at the timeframe when a product can pay for itself. They do use compact fluorescent lighting, turn off lights and equipment that isn't being used, monitor AC and heat usage (with programmable thermostats), drive efficiently, live in "right-sized" homes and turn off the water when they aren't brushing their teeth or washing dishes. Because they have trained themselves to not waste money they won't waste anything else either. They get into good habits and keep them going. You can, too.

Warren Buffet's words

Maybe some of you guys have already read this article. . .
Well this article was emailed by my aunt in manila a year ago, but I've just checked it only last month while I was polishing my inbox because of so many spam messages that were sent to me from some of my other accounts. And i got tired of checking it because of the flood messages that I received. And so then, day by day as it passes, my email box got looaded and have gone almost to 2k messages because i never deleted anything yet. And so I decided to clear my inbox since I got tons of hours to do it. And there i found my aunt's very inspiring message, actually it was an attached documents cause this was made in a powerpoint presentation. Here it goes..

There was a one hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffet, the second richest man who has donated $31 billion to charity. Following are some very interesting aspects of his life

He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late!
Things were very cheap that time
Encourage your children to invest

He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.
One could have bought many things with little savings
Encourage your children to start some kind of business

He still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha , that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence.
Don't buy more than what you "really need"
and encourage your children to do and think the same

He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.
You are what you are

He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world's largest private jet company.
Always think how you can accomplish things economically

His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis.
Assign the right people to the right jobs

He has given his CEO's only two rules.
Rule number 1: do not lose any of your share holder's money.
Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1.
Set goals and make sure people focus on them

He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His past time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch Television.
Don't try to show off, just be your self and do what you enjoy doing

Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk.
Bill Gates, the world's richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.
His advice to young people:
"Stay away from credit cards (bank loans) and invest in yourself and Remember:
Money doesn't create man but it is the man who created money.
Live your life as simple as you are.
Don't do what others say, just listen them, but do what you feel good.
Don't go on brand name; just wear those things in which you feel comfortable.
Don't waste your money on unnecessary things; just spend on them who really in need rather.
After all it's your life then why give chance to others to rule our life."

"The HAPPIEST people DONOT necessarily have the BEST of all.
They simply APPRECIATE what they find on their way”

Let us choose the way to live...

Bad feeling...

"Alam ko na talagang hindi ko nagampanan yung dapat gawin ng isang tunay na estudyante. Bagama't kaonti lamang yung nagawa ko, hindi parin sapat na maging isang tunay na estudyante."

My classmate was right when we had our conference chat with my other classmates. She said, "Because you guys were'nt serious". That made me feel astonished, since she has the point even if she withdrawn it and took back what she have said. Because she sensed that I was included to her statements. And the fact that I am a girl, and should a girl must be responsible enough to do the things in order, as what is prioritized.

I know that I am to blame. I wasted my parents' effort to send me to school and to spend money to pay. In the end, I was not doing it right. And I flunked everything.

I am a person who is always believing that I can do everything even though I know how much my capacity and ability. But that doesn't stop me, cause I believe that there's no hard if you try rather, there's nothing we could ever do if we wont just try. And that's what I am standing for. And perhaps, in every business that i've started I want to finish it. Even how much I needed to hurdle.

At sana'y magtagumpay ako! Laban na kung laban, Siya na ang bahala sa akin."

I am so nervous

Today is the result of my sister's grade in her Health Assessment. I just hope and believe in God that everything will be fine for my sister, as well as with me. Cause tomorrow is also my final result.

I know that i wasn't really doing my best or gave my best. But what i know is that, every single thing that i am on, im working on it seriously but that depends on my ability and capacity. Nonetheless i knew to myself that there are things that are very difficult and I have no confidence if i could ever make it.

But instead, I didn't end up a word but still I face the challenge. Neither that i know, I can do it "pala".

My aunts and uncles that are side of my mom are the ones whom i made challenge for. I know that i could never be like them such as very smart and intelligent. And are gifted with great knowledge.

I know that in myself God had already planted something inside of me. And yet, i haven't harvested it. But anyway, i know there'll be a right time for it.

Anyway, my nerves are vibrating and i feel how it beat up. I pray that we all could pass this challenge and trials that we are now facing. God is with us!

What a Sad morning :(

I went to my school this morning thinking I was soo late and damn i'll be getting lower grades and might not gonna have hopes anymore. Instead, I went there found out that we have no class! I was so in HIGH SPIRIT ^_^ THANK GOD! :) But that stopped when i finally tried to approach my teacher about my partial grade in her subject. I got astonished and dismay at the same time. I didn't realize how snob she was and was not very approachable about my case. Well, maybe she thought that I am not making good with my studies and that I'm just taking her subject for granted that's why I had that score that she was keeping. Well, its not like that. Actually I really had a hard time analyzing her discussions and of course I can really say that i am a slow learner. And yeah, I got tired of doing to myself alone, practicing. But now that she has told me to send my lab2 which it was already been a deadline and i didn't have a grade cause I made it into execution instead of c. WEll, program thingy! But she is soo D***, her email that she gave me didn't work. It was failed. I can't send it to her. Tsk. :( so, how will it be now? Dang. She just making herself added to my problem. :T_T (huhu! , i need you GOD!) i need you :( summer class is soon to be end. And im in the verge of breaking down. huhuuhuhuhuhuu someone must save me! and i know It is you GOD! :( please.

-just need to sleep 'em all.

And now, I am stuck!

I cant really say what should i suppose to do, now that i am stuck and can't go to its really destination. I am so much restless and very skeptical already for not being sure which path should I need to take first. Though, things are actually in hand but can't be work out. This is so pathetic, im making myself pathetic. Im so over useless and very irresponsible. How could i fix it now? Now that I am burning things and wasting my time into useless stuffs. I'll be dead that's for sure. Well i should just better do something or else, things will really turn out bad. :|
